Lisa, I talked about you again today--it find myself telling people about you all the time! We recently moved and so with that we had to find a new vet.--she did not know that the Spokane area had their very own dog whisperer!! I filled her in on Scooters questionable beginning and if it wasn't for our lives might have turned out different! I just wanted to touch bases with you to let you know again how grateful we are for all you did for our family. Scooter continues to be a great member of our pack and as you predicted he and Sadie are very close! He still has very strong Scottish terrier traits but it is nothing a brief refresher course in who is alpha (for him and I) can't take care of. Thank you again Robin, Scott, Scooter and Sadie Ray

You inspired me to finally try out a homemade dog treat recipe someone gave me a while back. They turned out great! Soft, not greasy, the dogs LOVE them, and I know what is in them. Wish I'd tried them sooner. They were really easy to make.
1 can tuna (in water, don't drain)
1 slice beef liver
1 cup flour
1 tbsp oil
Blend (puree) everything together (can add a bit of water if needed). Spread it out on a cookie sheet (greased or on wax paper). Bake at 300F for about 15 minutes. Cut into desired shapes/sizes. The final product has a leathery texture and is really easy to tear into smaller pieces. The tuna makes it a bit stinky though. I'm sure just liver flavor would work out well too.

Hi Mary! I am so proud of you! You did it. You noticed his behavior, thought your way through it and helped him think his way through it.

I hope you laugh when you see his goofy puppy body going in all directions. One day he will be all grown up.

Nice job.

Timber is going through these phases right now as well. Today for instance, Aaron was vacuuming and Timber of course was going CRAZY, barking, howling, jumping on the furniture etc. I tried what you said and redirected him into the kitchen and told him to sit and stay and worked on a few other tricks while Aaron continued vacuuming and it worked great! Not a peep. Also the last part about the younger dog darting all over in all different directions is exactly what timber does when we go for our walks on trails. He gets so excited he just darts everywhere! I love it. I can see how excited he is :)

That all makes sense and it would probably work but to be honest, I wouldn't have the time/motivation to do all that. I think I'll just be very careful about keeping boxes, cans, anything I think may contain food out of her reach. I'm already careful in the car, as you are, because she has been unwittingly rewarded. So if there is any kind of groceries etc that I need to get, it goes in the far back where it can be covered with the hideaway pull thing. She has never been rewarded there, so the chances are low that she would seek. I really like your analogy to the gambler in the casino. That's so right on. Thank you for your wisdom.
